Bamboo Finance joined forces with Ashoka and the Canopus Foundation to launch a solar energy fund for developing countries with a goal to bring affordable solar power to millions of off-grid households by 2020.
We believe providing access to reliable energy will unleash potential for large scale economic and social development, and the 1.4 billion people worldwide without access to the electrical power grid represent an enormous market opportunity that can prove transformative for developing countries.
The Fund is a global fund investing in solar energy companies in Sub-Saharan Africa, India, South East Asia, and Central and Latin America. Investments will be made as equity in companies across the solar PV supply chain, from manufacturing and distribution to end-user finance. Investments will be in the range of 0.5-4M USD, and the Fund will be looking to co-invest alongside other partners.
